Our ForHealth Consulting team recently provided the Executive Steering Committee for Reimagining Reentry In Massachusetts with an overview of existing reentry practices in Massachusetts.
In recent years, momentum has grown across the United States for criminal justice reform as a result of increased awareness of the impact of mass incarceration, structural racism, and implicit bias inherent in the criminal legal system.
“Returning Home: A Landscape of Community-Based Reentry in Massachusetts” describes strengths, identifies opportunities for improvement, highlights existing community supports, and elevates questions for the commonwealth’s leaders about current reentry practices and strategies. Massachusetts’ commitment to reentry reform is evident in its legislative efforts and the collaborative spirit of its community-based providers. By addressing identified gaps and leveraging existing strengths, the commonwealth can continue to improve outcomes for individuals transitioning from incarceration to reintegration.
