Justice & Health Equity Services

Individuals involved in the criminal legal system have disproportionally higher rates of health problems. Our services bring cost-effective, quality healthcare to prisons so individuals can receive the care they deserve—and continuity of it upon return to their communities so that their healthcare needs are still covered.

What Challenges You

Everyone deserves quality healthcare. Yet historically marginalized populations, including those involved in the legal system, have had limited healthcare access, both inside facilities and in the communities where they’re released.

Delivering equitable, cost-effective medical and mental healthcare to incarcerated populations and continuing to coordinate access to care upon release takes specialized knowledge, awareness, and expertise.

Why Choose Us

As an established leader in the field, we have advocated and worked for equitable, high-quality, and cost-effective correctional healthcare for over 20 years. Our clinical team manages direct patient care in hospital and healthcare settings, while operational and financial teams meet clients’ diverse needs with access to medical providers who understand the needs of this complex population. We work to improve the well-being of justice-involved individuals to prepare them to return healthier to the community.

Our Impact

Comprehensive Care for Incarcerated Individuals

Our team has provided comprehensive medical services to over 6,500 Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) inmates since 1998. Our off-site network providers annually perform over 20,000 medically necessary and appropriate healthcare services for individuals in FBOP custody nationwide, while our on-site providers deliver almost 40,000 hours of care in a variety of specialties.

In another project, our team has delivered specialty care for medically complex patients—including transplant, oncology, and memory loss patients—at one Federal Medical Center (FMC) since 1998. Our team processed approximately 4,700 medical claims in 2021 for services provided by our 25+ physician specialists across 1,977 onsite medical encounters at this FMC.
