Pharmacist roles enhancing substance use disorder treatment access, continuation, and education in a problem-solving court

Recently, Joseph Sawicki, RPh, PharmD, from our Justice, Health, & Equity team, co-authored an article in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association titled “Pharmacist roles enhancing substance use disorder treatment access, continuation, and education in a problem-solving court” with Ekaterina Pivovarova, PhD, and Peter D. Friedmann, MD, MPH, from UMass Chan Medical School, and Jeffrey Bratberg, PharmD, FAPhA, a colleague from the University of Rhode Island. The article was a commentary about the valuable role that a consulting pharmacist can have in the criminal legal system to address gaps in substance use treatment. This includes training court staff on medications, enhancing treatment access, and improving outcomes for participants.
