The MassHealth (Massachusetts’ Medicaid) Medical Respite Pilot program sought to provide short-term (180 days) residential care and supportive services to homeless people discharged from hospital settings. ForHealth Consulting’s Research & Evaluation team evaluated the pilot, which indicated promising outcomes in reducing acute care utilization, improving housing stability, and enhancing access to outpatient services for a medically complex, high-cost population.
