Dr. Joe Sawicki on “The Regimen” Podcast Discussing Recovery Courts

Recently, ForHealth Consulting’s Dr. Joe Sawicki, clinical consultant pharmacist, along with Dr. Ekaterina Pivovarova, assistant professor at UMass Chan Medical School, were guests on “The Regimen,” a podcast from the University of Rhode Island about how pharmacists and pharmacy students can improve population health, health equity, and patient care through advocacy and education. Take a listen below.

The role of a consultant pharmacist for recovery courts and parole helps to fulfill ForHealth Consulting’s mission to improve the healthcare experience for vulnerable and justice-involved individuals. Dr. Sawicki is a key liaison between courts, probation, parole, prisons, jails, and community providers to build relationships and professional awareness around the intersection of justice involvement and substance use disorder.

Joe serves as a clinical resource for our justice partners to better the lives of individuals within their care. By developing and nurturing relationships that adhere to the needs of individuals on supervision, Joe is able to maximize resources available to justice partners, enhance positive health outcomes, increase compliance, and achieve the ultimate goal of increasing community tenure.
