The unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities is typically 2 to 2 ½ times higher than for people without disabilities. Fear of losing public benefits is one of the biggest barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities because of the complexity of navigating this system. In addition, employers don’t know where to find qualified candidates with disabilities, nor do they understand proper etiquette for engaging and communicating or the rules, requirements, and resources around interviewing, managing, and accommodating.
Work Without Limits was founded in 2008 to address these issues and foster more disability inclusion in employment. The organization, part of ForHealth Consulting, has instituted solutions such as benefits counseling services for people with disabilities, training for employment service providers to understand more about public benefits and inclusion, and career networking opportunities to connect disability-inclusive employers to qualified job candidates.
