Congratulations to Thomas C. Pomfret, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, pharmacy residency program director and clinical consultant pharmacist team lead, who received the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Residency Director Award at the AMCP meeting in Chicago on Thursday, March 31. This award recognizes an AMCP member making a significant contribution to managed care pharmacy by being a managed care residency program director.

As Kimberly Lenz, PharmD, MBA, FAMCP, senior pharmacy director, MassHealth/Office of Clinical Affairs, wrote in her nomination, “Tom not only transformed our program to one of the highest regarded (based on American Society of Health-System Pharmacists [ASHP] accreditation feedback) but has also worked with all of the preceptors to improve our performance, feedback, and the experiences offered to the residents. Tom encourages and supports the residents beyond the traditional residency experiences.”

Pomfret received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has demonstrated expertise in the creation and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs and drug formulary management, as well as the assessment of drug formulary placement of new and specialty products. You can learn more about his award and the other winners on AMCP’s website.
