Consulting Division of UMass Chan Medical School Announces New Brand Identity that Aligns with Mission to Improve Health Care for All

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, UMass Chan Medical School Chancellor Michael F. Collins announced that the health care consulting division formerly known as Commonwealth Medicine is now ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School. ForHealth Consulting will continue its work with clients and partners across the U.S. to improve the healthcare experience, making it more equitable, effective and accessible.

“Our consulting capabilities have expanded over the years based on our client needs and the ever-changing healthcare landscape, and our partners rely on our connection to UMass Chan for access to renowned experts with experience implementing innovative and actionable healthcare solutions,” said Lisa M. Colombo, DNP, MHA, RN, executive vice chancellor for Commonwealth Medicine, now known as ForHealth Consulting. “Our new name, ForHealth Consulting, clearly articulates our mission, our relationship with UMass Chan, and how we support our clients and the people they serve by improving the healthcare experience – from payment and financing to clinical practice and information management.”

Today, ForHealth Consulting employs more than 1,100 team members who provide services in more than 25 states across the country, overseeing approximately 400 contracts with organizations that include state Medicaid agencies and other health and human service partners.

“This exciting announcement from ForHealth Consulting aligns with our strategic plans for business growth and will increase our brand awareness in the healthcare consulting marketplace,” said Chancellor Collins. “Our consultants do difficult and important work, often behind the scenes, to improve the health care experience for all, and this new name really speaks to that commitment and to our overall mission of public service at UMass Chan.”

UMass Chan has partnered with state and federal agencies and other healthcare organizations since 1983 to solve healthcare challenges. These services grew to become the comprehensive healthcare consulting division known as Commonwealth Medicine in 1999.
